FORD has unveiled its latest generation Mustang muscle car, which for the first time will come to the UK in right-hand drive form. The car, which will go on sale towards the end of 2014, claims to be lighter and more advanced than its predecessor. Also new is a 2.3-litre, 305 horsepower engine, which Ford hopes will boost the Mustang’s eco credentials in Europe without detracting from the car’s performance.

But today frugality is the key and, if you can couple it with a fair degree of style and some half-decent performance, you should be on to a winner. VW thinks so, and has announced that the VW Scirroco GT TDI 170PS is now available in the UK, with prices starting at £21,755 OTR. This GT TDI is a frugal car and, with a combined figure of 53.3mpg and emissions of 139g/km Co2, you’d rather expect it to be a frugal eco-box that struggled away from the lights.
A production version of the Ford B-Max mini-MPV will make its debut at next month's Geneva motor show – one year after the concept was announced. The production B-Max stays true to the 2011 concept, with the same lack of a B-pillar between the conventional front and sliding rear doors, which creates a 1,500mm aperture. We'll be interested to learn how this affects both weight and rigidity as well as how much real-world advantage it offers.
